Establishment of SNAS
The Slovak National Accreditation System was constituted on the basis of Decree No 866/1993 of the SR government and established on the basis of Decision No. 9/1993 of the President of the Slovak Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing (UNMS SR). On the basis of the Decision of the President of the Slovak Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing (UNMS SR) No. 4/97 the organization was transformed into the Slovak National Accreditation Service (SNAS), with decision-making competency, effective from January 1, 1998.
According to the SNAS foundation charter, SNAS was constituted as a state goverment-subsidized organization with zero contribution and with independent legal subjectivity, effective from January 1999.
By its decision of January 7, 2000 the Ministry of Economy of the SR has authorised SNAS as a sole accreditation body to execute accreditation in SR on the basis of Act. No.264/1999, §22.
As an organisation SNAS operated on the basis of Act. No. 552/2003 Coll. On Performance of Work in the Public Interest until Dezember 31, 2009.
Since January 1, 2010 SNAS operates on the basis of Act. No. 505/2009 Coll. On Accreditation of Conformity Assessment Bodies.
