Brief history

1993

  • Issuing of Decree No. 866/1993 of the Slovak Republic Government
  • Decision No. 9/93 of the President of the Slovak Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing (UNMS SR) on the constitution of the Slovak National Accreditation System (SNAS)

1994
  • Establishment of the SNAS

1995
  • SNAS accepted as associate member of EAL and EAC
  • Extension of the SNAS field of activity to accreditation of products and persons certification bodies

1996
  • SNAS became a founding member of the International Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (ILAC)
  • Extension of the SNAS field of activity to Good Laboratory Practice in compliance with the OECD principles, accreditation of inspection bodies and bodies certifying environmental management systems

1997
  • SNAS accepted as a full member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF)

1998
  • Establishment of the Slovak National Accreditation Service on the basis of Decision No. 4/1997 of the President of the Slovak Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing (UNMS SR)
  • SNAS accepted as a full member of European Accreditation (EA)

1999
  • Establishment of the Slovak National Accreditation Service as a state non-profit organization with independent legal subjectivity
  • SNAS authorized by the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic as the sole accrediting body in Slovakia in compliance with the Act No. 264/1999 Coll.

2000
  • Evaluation of the SNAS by EA

2001
  • SNAS became a signatory of EA MLA and ILAC MRA in the field of calibration and testing laboratories

2002
  • SNAS became a signatory of EA MLA in the field of certification of products, quality management systems, environment management systems and persons
  • Establishment of the Detached Unit of the SNAS at Košice

2003
  • SNAS became a signatory of IAF MLA in the field of certification of quality management systems
  • SNAS became a signatory of EA MLA in the field of inspection
  • Establishment of the Detached Unit of the SNAS at Žilina

2004
  • SNAS became a signatory of IAF MLA in the field of certification of products and environment management systems
  • Decision of the Minister of Environment No. 12/2004 of March 3, 2004 on ensuring performance of accreditation of environmental verifiers and surveillance on their activity by SNAS

2005
  • Re-evaluation of the SNAS by EA

2009
  • Shutting down of the detached units in Košice and Žilina
  • Act. No. 505/5009 Col. On Accreditation of Conformity Assessment Bodies

2010
  • Transformation of SNAS legal status from a government-subsided organization without subsidy to a non-profit public institution without state subsidy

2012
  • SNAS became a signatory to the ILAC MRA for the accreditation of inspection bodies.
  • Authorization of SNAS by the Ministry of Environment of November 20, 2012 to carry out the tasks related to accreditation of GHG verifiers pursuant to Art 54 (1) of Commission Regulation (EU) No 600/2012.

2014
  • SNAS became an EA MLA signatory in the field of verification
  • SNAS became an IAF MLA signatory in the field of product certification in the scheme of GlobalG.A.P. IFA General Regulations

2016
  • SNAS became an IAF MLA signatory in the field of product certification

2018
  • SNAS became an IAF MLA signatory in the field of food safety management systems, energy management systems, information safety management systems and quality management systems for medical devices
